CORE Approved Under Michigan PA 26
Michigan districts, ISDs, and public school academies can now choose CORE Learning to help K–5 educators meet the training requirements of Public Act 26.
We look forward to working alongside teachers and school leaders to support strong reading instruction for every student, including Multilingual Learners and language variety speakers,”
SAN FRANCISCO , CA, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- CORE Learning, a language and literacy-focused professional learning organization serving PK-12 educators nationwide, today announced that it has been approved by the Michigan Department of Education as a provider under Public Act 26 of 2026 (MCL 380.1531k). The law requires all K–5 teachers in Michigan to complete professional learning grounded in the Science of Reading by the 2031–32 school year.— Maya Valencia Goodall, Chief Impact Officer at CORE Learning.
With this approval, Michigan districts, intermediate school districts (ISDs), and public school academies (PSAs) can partner with CORE Learning to meet the requirement without a separate procurement process. CORE Learning's approach combines teacher training with leadership support and classroom coaching, helping schools move beyond course completion to lasting changes in instruction. Course length and scheduling can be tailored to each district's calendar and staffing, so schools can train educators on a timeline that works for them.
Through CORE Learning, Michigan schools and districts can:
- Train K–5 teachers in the Science of Reading through CORE's Online Language & Literacy Academy – Elementary (OL&LA-E), including strategies that support Multilingual Learners and language variety speakers.
- Equip principals and school leaders to sustain strong literacy instruction through CORE’s Leadership for Literacy course.
- Help educators apply new learning in daily practice with on-site coaching and implementation support.
- Build in-house trainer capacity over time through CORE’S OL&LA Cohort Leader Certification course.
The approval builds on CORE Learning's existing presence in Michigan, where its Online Language & Literacy Academy and Elementary Reading Academy already appear on the state's Section 35m approved professional learning list.
“We’re so glad to be one of the partners Michigan districts can turn to for PA 26 training. We look forward to working alongside teachers and school leaders to support strong reading instruction for every student, including Multilingual Learners and language variety speakers,” said Maya Valencia Goodall, Chief Impact Officer at CORE Learning.
CORE Learning's approval under Public Act 26 supports its broader work helping schools and districts move from literacy initiatives to lasting literacy systems.
